Slip cast porcelain, wooden table, painted plinth
Profile vessels: 10cm wide x 12cm high (table with plinth: 86cm high)
Slip cast porcelain vessels outlining my daughter's profile, spun 360 degrees to create a container with lid and base. The upper vessel holds her fallen baby teeth; the lower vessel sits inverted and empty below, displayed on a two-tiered wooden table on a grey plinth.
The spun profile appears abstract until caught at a certain angle, where the outline of a face emerges: the shape of space a person once occupied. Being a parent is a string of miniature griefs, watching your child grow out of the person you're holding. She has already changed since I mapped her profile into this form. This vessel holds what she has shed, remembering forwards into the loss.
